The castle of Monterinaldi in the commune of Radda in Chianti, is in the heart of the oldest historical area of the Chianti Classico region where the Ciampi family have been the guardians since 1961. Eighteen single Vineyards, 38 terroirs, fifty-five hectares. Sangiovese of different clones, Canaiolo, Colorino, Malvasia Nera, Petit Verdot, Syrah, Gamay, Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, Cabernet-Franc, Malvasia Bianca, Trebbiano, Chardonnay, vines planted at a density of 5000 vines per hectare.
Monterinaldi has been in conversion to organic management which was certified as of 2017. Loyalty to tradition is a fundamental principle at Monterinaldi. Their primary goal remains to offer Chianti Classico in its most traditional form. This does not, of course, preclude the use of new technologies and equipment designed to enhance quality without affecting the typical attributes. Chianti Classico is aged in barrels, a combination of French oak tonneaux and barriques, then aged in bottle for a period ranging from 6 months to 2 years in the old underground cellar that is particularly suitable for aging wine.
